What is National Rural Health Day?
The National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health sets aside the third Thursday of every November to celebrate National Rural Health Day. National Rural Health Day is an opportunity to “Celebrate the Power of Rural” by honoring the selfless, community-minded, “can do” spirit that prevails in rural America, gives us a chance to bring to light the unique healthcare challenges that rural citizens face, and showcase the efforts of rural healthcare providers, State Offices of Rural Health and other rural stakeholders to address those challenges.
Want to understand the impact of National Rural Health Day? Read our report on all the ways we’ve transformed a single day event into an ongoing national #PowerofRural movement.
Save the time on National Rural Health Day for this special event!
On National Rural Health Day, Katherine Ortega Courtney, Ph.D., and Dominic Cappello, authors of 100% Community: Ensuring 10 Vital Services for Surviving and Thriving, will discuss their groundbreaking research and the roadmap they have created to help rural counties press reset and learn how to work together in new ways to create local systems of health, safety, education and economic stability.
“For all of us who believe that we can make everyone’s health, safety, resilience and readiness for a crisis a priority, this book shows the way.”
—Senator Bill Soules, New Mexico State Senator
